Wellick finishes 7th in all-around

Arkansas junior Amanda Wellick scored 39.300 in all-around to finish seventh in the NCAA Gymnastics Championship on Friday at the Fort Worth Convention Center Arena.

The performance earned her second team All-American honors.

She started out with a vault of 9.775 — her lowest vault score of the season — to tie her for 30th in the event. She then placed 20th with a 9.8375 on uneven bars.

Wellick posted a 9.875 on the balance beam, which tied her for 11th.

She finished up with a 9.8125 in the floor exercise, which was good for a 23rd-place tie.

Chayse Capps of Oklahoma won the all-around competition with a score of 39.6125. Oklahoma also won the team competition (197.7875), edging Alabama (197.3875).
