Giovanni LaFrance added to Hogs' 105-man roster

Arkansas linebacker Giovanni LaFrance goes through practice Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016, in Fayetteville.

— Freshman linebacker Giovanni LaFrance was added to Arkansas' 105-man roster and practiced for the first time Tuesday.

LaFrance has missed close to two weeks of practices while recovering from a broken hand that he suffered while playing 7-on-7 with teammates during the offseason.

"[The injury] was kind of freakish," LaFrance told WholeHogSports.com on Aug. 7. "I was jamming a tight end. I was trailing him and somehow I fell. My knuckle was bruised and kind of swollen. The trainers did an X-ray, and my bone was actually like split."

LaFrance's addition figures to be a boost to a linebackers corp that shrunk by one Monday when Kendrick Jackson was moved to fullback, the position he played last season. LaFrance (6-foot-1, 255 pounds) was a highly recruited player out of St. Augustine High School in New Orleans.
