Arkansas trying to flip Missouri DE Commit Chris Turner

— Arkansas lost at Missouri in the regular season finale, but now the Razorbacks are looking to get payback on the recruiting trail.

Missouri defensive end commit and Hammond, La., prep standout Chris Turner (6-4, 225) took an official visit to check out the Razorbacks.

“It was great, a lot of fun,” Turner said. “I love everything up here. Getting to meet all the coaches and all the players.”

Turner, who says Arkansas has talked to him about playing defensive end or outside linebacker, said the visit put Arkansas in a position to flip him from the Tigers.

“Yes, it makes me reconsider and think about all my choices,” Turner said.

Turner was hosted by fellow Louisiana natives Kendrick Jackson and Dwayne Eugene. He is interested in Arkansas' engineering college.

“When I took my visit to Missouri they didn't let me in the engineering department,” Turner said. “I guess they didn't have time for it. Here, they took me through the whole engineering building and department. It was nice.”

Arkansas coach Bret Bielema, defensive line coach Rory Segrest and wide receivers coach Michael Smith have all been recruiting Turner.

“I like all the coaches a lot,” Turner said. “Coach Smith has been down to Louisiana a couple of times. Coach (Bielema) came to my game the second last week of the season. I like all of them. I'm looking to building a relationship with all of them.”

Turner had a big season getting to the quarterback, which he believes is his strength.

“My pass rush, I think I finished with 11 or 12 sacks this season,” Turner said.

He will keep working up until signing date, which is when he plans to announce.

“I'm still working and going to hit the weights hard when I get back to Louisiana,” Turner said. “Just continue to work on my pass rush and developing myself for college.”
