Eighth Annual Southwest Elite 7-on-7 Showcase Draws Near

Jenks, Okla., cornerback Jordon Curtis is committed to Arkansas.

Arkansas cornerback commit Jordon Curtis of Jenks, Okla., will be among the headliners at the Southwest Elite 7-on-7 Showcase July 15-16 at Shiloh Christian High School in Springdale.

Curtis (6-2, 180) pledged to the Razorbacks back on June 17 and his Jenks squad – which also features big-time tight end Reese Laiteo (6-4, 230) – are among 32 teams slated for the event.

Other prospects Arkansas is known to be looking at are Fort Smith Northside cornerback Tre Norwood (6-0, 170) and Midwest City, Okla., Evan Fields (6-2, 190), who has offers from Kansas State and Houston among others.

Liberty Tech, Tenn., strong safety Alec Long (6-0, 212) has offers from Texas A&M and Mississippi State while Lutheran, Kan., North quarterback Aqueel Glass (6-4, 220) is committed to Florida International.

Arkansas teams involved will be Alma, Bentonville, Bentonville West, Elkins, Fort Smith Northside, Little Rock Christian, Marion, Rogers Heritage, Shiloh Christian and Springdale.

Oklahoma schools slated to participate are Bishop Kelly, Bixby, Broken Arrow, Coweta, Heritage Hall, Moore, Midwest City and Stillwater.

The other teams scheduled to play are Derby, Kan., Mill Valley, Kan., Liberty Tech, Tenn., Lutheran North, Mo., Glendale, Mo., McDonald County, Mo., Gibson Southern, Ind., Aurora Christian, Ill., and DeSoto, Miss.

Pool play will begin Friday morning at 9 a.m. with the championship game slated for Saturday at 5 p.m.

Fayetteville won the event last season and has won the tournament twice along along with Olive Branch, Miss.

Harrison, Bentonville and host Shiloh Christian all have one title each.
