Montaric Brown update

Ashdown safety Montaric Brown poses for a photo at the All Arkansas Camp at War Memorial Stadium on June 5.

— Arkansas safety target Montaric Brown, who's playing in the fifth annual Garrett Uekman 7-on-7 tournament at War Memorial Stadium today, won't make his college decision later this month.

Brown, 6-1, 180, 4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash, of Ashdown narrowed his list to Arkansas, Alabama, Oklahoma State, Auburn and LSU earlier this month. He planned to announce his decision July 6, but changed his mind and said later this month.

After talking to his family, Brown said he plans to take official visits before deciding. He'll for sure visit Arkansas, Alabama and Oklahoma State. He said he'll probably also visit Auburn and LSU.

Brown had plans to unofficially visit Alabama on July 21 and possibly Arkansas, but it appears those trips won't happen.

ESPN rates Brown the No. 11 safety and No. 180 overall prospect in the nation. He had 112 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 8 pass deflections, a forced fumble and 5 interceptions with 3 returned for touchdowns last season.

Ashdown will play Pulaski Robinson at 6:20 this evening.
