Day 3 Vegas recruiting tidbits

Arkansas Coach Mike Anderson, assistant Scotty Thurman and associate head coach Melvin Watkins watch the 16-under Arkansas Hawks in Vegas.

— Arkansas Coach Mike Anderson and his staff are actively recruiting several big men in the 2017 and 2018 classes.

The Razorback coaches have seen All 4 Sports Dream Team center Kevin Samuel, 6-10, 225, Team Carroll power forward Garrison Brooks, 6-9, 215 of LaFayette, (Ala.) Auburn along with Team Portis Wings Elite and Arkansas center commitment Daniel Gafford, 6-11, 223 of El Dorado and 2018 Arkansas Hawks power forward Reggie Perry, 6-10, 225 of Thomasville, Ga.

The Hogs have also seen Mokan Elite 2018 power forward Carte'Are Gordon, 6-9, 257. CP3 power forward Victor Enoh, 6-8, 235 is another prospect the Hogs are taking a hard look at. ESPN rates Gordon the No. 11 power forward and No. 25 overall prospect in the nation. Both have been talking to assistant Scotty Thurman.

Gordon said he's heard good things about Arkansas from former guard B.J. Young and he's considering a visit for a football this fall.

Enoh, who's from Nigeria, is familiar with Hog center Moses Kingsley and has been impressed with his progress.

Arkansas' streak of attending Garrison Brooks' games this month stayed intact. He said Anderson and assistant T.J. Cleveland watched his first game on Friday and Cleveland was at his second game. He had 19 points and 5 rebounds in a 73-47 win over Team Richmond Garner Road - Harris and 14 points and 17 rebounds in a 61-56 loss to District Basketball Club.

Team Texas 2018 center Connor Vanover 4 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks in the Friday night game. He had 23 points, 12 rebounds, 4 blocks and 2 steals in the morning game. He unofficially had 19 points, 9 rebounds, 6 blocks in Thursday's game.

Arkansas associate head coach Melvin Watkins watched Hog commitment Darious Hall score 23 points in a loss Friday night.

Anderson and Thurman flew to Fort Wayne, Indiana today to watch 2017 power forward Jaren Jackson Jr., 6-10, 225 play in the GRBA National Championship. ESPN rates him the No. 6 power forward and No. 25 overall prospect in the nation.

Watkins and Cleveland were court side Friday to watch the 16-under Arkansas Hawks defeat Compton Magic 80-64 to win their Super Pool and earn a bye to the Elite 32 Championship Bracket. Anderson and Thurman have also watched the Hawks in Vegas.

2018 guard Desi Sills had 25 points and 6 rebounds while 2018 forward Ethan Henderson had 19 points and 7 rebounds. 2018 forward Reggie Perry had 10 points and 7 rebounds and 2018 guard Isaiah Joe scored 13 points.

Thurman will be at the AAU National Championships in Orlando on Saturday while Anderson and Cleveland will be in Atlanta for more basketball.

Watkins will be staying in Las Vegas.
