Tom Murphy's Top 25 poll for Sept. 25

I had no changes in my top four, leaving Alabama and Ohio State in the top two slots, followed by Louisville and Clemson, which will be combatants in a key ACC showdown on Saturday in Clemson, S.C.

I moved Houston up to No. 5, swapping place with Stanford, which won its ninth game in a row over UCLA.

Texas A&M moved into the AP top 10, but I already had them at No. 8 last week. After seeing the Aggies in person, I moved them up one spot after the strong performance from their defensive front and Trevor Knight's ability to spread the ball around to all of his playmakers.

Texas A&M will be able to do things defensively to slow Alabama down, but you can bet Nick Saban and Co. will have schemes to keep Knight from gashing them up the middle, which Arkansas did not do.

I moved Arkansas from No. 16 to No. 23 because we know the Razorbacks' 45-24 loss to the Aggies should have been much closer. The running game is growing into a disturbing issue for the Razorbacks heading into the rest of the SEC slate. I punished the Hogs a little more than most voters, as Arkansas wound up falling only three spots to No. 20.

I went ahead and dropped Georgia, LSU and South Florida out this week. The Georgia drop was drastic from No. 18, but if you watched much of the Bulldogs' pitiful performance at Ole Miss, you can say they didn't look like top 25 material.

I brought Arizona State, Memphis and Boise State into the poll this week, though there were a big handful of teams I looked at to join the party.
