Bret Bielema

— Didn't want to push their injury luck and liked what they had the last 2 scrimmages, so didn't today.

— Moved Jamario Bell back to defense. Had about as good a practice as he's had in his career Thursday. Michael Taylor moved to defensive end with Karl Roesler at outside linebacker.

— Paul Ramirez is back and working at both tackles. Frank Ragnow worked today.

— Tuesday was one of their worst practices this year because they were in just helmets.

— Blake Johnson was back Tuesday. Has done well. Sent a nice message to Bielema. Thinks this could be big for his maturity.

— Dwayne Eugene is natural at outside linebacker. He played safety in high school. He's a pleasing soul. He and Randy Ramsey can be a nice tandem.

— LaMichael Pettway has stepped up after Bielema challenged him in January. Still has to improve mentally, but he's had a good spring.

— Juan Day is about 75-80 percent. Banged up his knee.

— Johnny Gibson is standing out. He's someone he really wanted to improve maturity and development wise. Gave a good message to the team today in practice. Hjalte Froholdt is continuing to improve. Brian Wallace has made some strides, but banged up his arm this week. Zack Rogers can do everything, kind of like a Swiss Army knife.

— Ramirez took the majority of the reps at RT with the starters today with Wallace banged up. Dalton Wagner is the most ready of the freshman OL. He's been working as the No. 2 at right tackle. Intelligent and tough.

— It'll be ones against the world in the Red-White game. Second team scores will count double. There'll be a field goal segment.

— This has been an eager, hungry group. Had Troy Calhoun from Air Force in last month who observed positive things. Other coaches have said the same.

— No fumbles today. Did an intense ball-security drill when they were tired. Offensive players spent some time with defensive coaches going through tackle circuits and ball recovery drills. Defensive players worked with offensive coaches on ball security.

— Rawleigh Williams and Devwah Whaley can be a really good combo. Williams has shown better patience than he ever has. Whaley is gifted. Maleek Williams has been impressive. He's thick. Won't back off the first two early in the spring game.

— Thinks fans will see Austin Allen's improvement next week. Also, the new faces at WRs. Thinks they'll like Maleek Williams. The No. 2 QB is fun to watch. Ty Storey today was very efficient, had a nice ball down the field today.

— Probably won't bring a large number of pressures or change-ups in the spring game, but fans will get to see how they line up and who makes plays.

— Been doing some scout work lately.

— Allen will play the first half but may come out early in the second half or not play at all. The other 2 would get those reps.

— Always liked Armon Watts' demeanor and attitude. He's about 315 pounds now. Threw Colton Jackson down in a drill today. Sosa Agim, Briston Guidry and Michael Taylor are on the same side right now.

— Randy Ramsey is set to have the best academic semester of his career. Maturity wise, he's taken a big step. Really feels he can have a big jump in the fall. Knack for rushing the passer. Long arms, good power.

— Britto Tutt is long for a CB. He's a diligent player. He and Nate Dalton are battling it out for the No. 4 corner spot.

— Kurt Anderson is doing a great job. Guys are developing. The development of Dan Skipper as a senior was impressive last year and Ragnow is doing the same this year.

— Jake Raulerson can play anywhere. Today, he missed because of injury but should be back Tuesday. Put on 15-20 pounds. He's trying and he likes his attitude.

— Kyrei Fisher loves contact and isn't afraid to hit. Very explosive. Trying to break him of running behind blocks if he feels he can't get over the top because players are obviously faster at this level.

— Gotten a lot of calls about players from NFL guys for the upcoming draft.

— Having the latest spring game in the SEC is a result of the 8-week offseason program that is longer than most. Good recruiting weekend lined up for next weekend.

— Try to do something every year to spice the spring game up a little bit for fans. Goes ones against the world because he likes continuity. Kind of a glorified practice for them.

— On Bobby Petrino not allowing cameras at Louisville's spring game: "I don't think I should comment on anything. Thanks for starting a fire."
