Brannon hoping to impress at Arkansas' Trench Hog camp

— Oklahoma City, Okla., John Marshall offensive tackle Nigel Brannon enjoyed his Sunday morning at the Memphis Mega Football Camp, but does admit that having to work without pads is not his personal choice.

Brannon (6-5, 353), who committed to Memphis later in the day, would much rather be padded up and attacking the defender.

“I’ve got a dog in me when I put the pads on,” Brannon said. “Without pads, you can’t get out here and throw people around and things like that. So I like working with the pads on.”

He’ll get to do that next Sunday when he attends Arkansas’ inaugural Trench Hog Camp and gets to work again with Razorback offensive line coach Kurt Anderson.

“I really like him and he told me today to just keep on doing what I am doing,” Brannon said.

Brannon has offers from Memphis, TCU, Howard, Bowling Green, Nevada and others with interest from Arkansas and Texas Tech as well.

He visited Arkansas during its Elite Camp on June 3 and would really like to add an offer from the Razorbacks.

“That would be great and something I would really be excited about,” Brannon said.

Brannon feels like he would be better served to play at around 335, something he is working toward being by the time the season rolls around.

“I feel like I could be in better shape to be honest,” Brannon said. “I am just going to keep working out and getting better.”
