Spanberger ends memorable tournament run with MVP award

After being left off the coaches' all-SEC team, Arkansas first baseman Chad Spanberger was named MVP of the 2017 SEC Baseball Tournament on Sunday.

Spanberger went 8-for-19 with 5 home runs and 10 RBI, and was walked seven times during the Razorbacks' five games at the tournament.

He set tournament records with 3 home runs and 7 RBI during a game against Auburn on Thursday. He also homered in his first two at-bats against Florida on Saturday and doubled three times during the tournament.

In addition to Spanberger, Arkansas pitcher Kacey Murphy and outfielder Luke Bonfield were named to the all-tournament team. Murphy allowed two hits in seven shutout innings during the win over Florida and Bonfield - who was selected to the tournament team as a designated hitter - had a home run in a game against Mississippi State on Thursday.
