Khalil Garland not cleared for full participation

Khalil Garland of Little Rock Parkview dunks during the All-Metro Classic on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, in Little Rock.

— Highly touted freshman guard Khalil Garland has not been cleared for full participation "due to an ongoing health matter," Arkansas coach Mike Anderson announced in a statement Monday.

"He will continue to get treatment for this condition and the medical staff is optimistic that he will be cleared to return to full participation at a later date," Anderson said.

The undisclosed medical issue arose when Garland went through his physical shortly after arriving on campus, sources told WholeHogSports. He underwent further testing this summer, but the issue has yet to be resolved.

Garland, a Little Rock native who played at Parkview High School, was ranked the No. 58 player nationally in the class of 2017 by ESPN. He is one of four true freshmen on the roster.
