— Arkansas senior forward Arlando Cook has been indefinitely suspended from the basketball team by coach Mike Anderson after being arrested on assault charges Saturday.

Cook was charged with first-degree assault, public intoxication and disorderly conduct early Saturday morning and released before noon on $1,250 bond. He averaged 2.8 points and 2.3 rebounds as a junior.

“Senior forward Arlando Cook has been suspended indefinitely and will not be permitted to participate in any team activities," Anderson said in a statement. "This is not a situation that will be taken lightly. This type of behavior is not condoned by our program.”

This is Cook's second arrest in less than a year. He was busted for public intoxication Oct. 2, 2016.

According to a Fayetteville police report from Saturday's incident, officers found the 6-foot-8 Cook punching an apparently unconscious man outside Bordinos Restaurant on Dickson Street. The victim declined treatment and had no visible injuries. Cook cooperated with officers, but they observed he had watery, bloodshot eyes and smelled of intoxicants. The altercation was centered on a dispute over a female, according to the report.

Cook averaged 11.3 minutes per game last season and appeared in all 36 games with 7 starts. Entering preseason practice, he was slated to compete with returning starter Dustin Thomas and sophomore Adrio Bailey, among others, for playing time in the frontcourt.
