Reports: Enos will coach at Alabama

Arkansas offensive coordinator Dan Enos speaks to his players Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, during practice at the university's practice field in Fayetteville.

— Former Arkansas offensive coordinator Dan Enos is reportedly coming back to the Southeastern Conference.

Citing single unnamed sources, Pete Thamel of Yahoo! Sports and Bruce Feldman of Sports Illustrated reported Thursday that Enos will join the coaching staff at Alabama. Both reported Enos would be the Crimson Tide's quarterbacks coach, with Thamel adding Enos' title is expected to include associate head coach. The hire has not been officially announced.

Enos, a three-year coordinator at Arkansas who was fired in December after a coaching change, was hired earlier this month as a receivers coach at Michigan in his home state.

If Enos joins Alabama's staff, it will place Arkansas' two most recent offensive coordinators on the staffs of the 2017 national champion and national runner-up. Jim Chaney, who preceded Enos as the Razorbacks' play-caller, is offensive coordinator on a Georgia staff that also includes former Arkansas offensive line coach Sam Pittman.

Prior to hiring Chaney, Georgia coach Kirby Smart reportedly reached out to Enos about the Bulldogs' coordinator position, but Enos had a no-compete clause that prohibited him from taking another job within the SEC. That clause was waived when Enos was fired following the Razorbacks' coaching change last month.

Enos would not be the first member of Arkansas' 2017 coaching staff to join another SEC staff this off-season. Vernon Hargreaves Jr. was hired as linebackers coach at Missouri in December and a FootballScoop.com report earlier this week stated Michael Smith will be hired as an assistant at Kentucky, a move that has not been officially announced.

New Arkansas coach Chad Morris retained assistants Barry Lunney Jr. and John Scott Jr. from the previous staff.
