Hazen 2020 standout Toll seeks Arkansas offer

Blayne Toll

Easily one of the best-looking prospects at Sunday night’s Arkansas camp was Hazen junior Blayne Toll, who worked out at both tight end and defensive end.

Toll (6-5, 235) already has offers from Memphis, Rutgers, Southern Miss and Carroll College, which produced former Razorback and current Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino.

“He is a bright young prospect, that he is,” Hazen head coach Joe Besancon said. “He is just a sharp young man on and off the field and is a very young 15 years old. You look at him and say, 'No way is he 15,' because he is so big and physical, but he is that young. He has a bright future ahead of him.”

Arkansas, Oklahoma, Georgia and Notre Dame are others who have been showing interest in arguably the state’s top 2020 prospect, a top 200 prospect nationally in his class and one who has a lot of interest in being a Razorback.

“I will do whatever to get up here (Arkansas),” Toll said when asked if he preferred tight end or defensive end. “ … I feel good about my catching. I just have to work on my blocking.”

He is continuing to develop his relationship with Arkansas coaches, who came to see him in Hazen this spring.

“They are really nice,” Toll said.

Toll threw for 715 yards and eight touchdowns and rushed for 465 yards and six more scores while playing quarterback and had 42 tackles, 24 stops for lost yardage, nine sacks and three forced fumbles as a defensive end for Hazen (10-3).

“He did a really good job for us at quarterback and defensive end this season, but he is going to be a tight end or defensive end on the college level,” Besancon said. “He catches the ball really well, has big, big hands and is just going to get better.

“He is also really, really physical at defensive end and at quarterback for that matter. If I need three yards from him for a first down, then he is going to run over somebody to get it.”

Arkansas made it to Hazen this spring along with several other schools to see Toll, who is scheduled to camp at Oklahoma on Monday and Georgia on Wednesday.

“Arkansas was here several times, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Louisiana Tech and Memphis all came down and Georgia and Texas were among those that called to check on him.”
