Fassi, Arkansas atop Evans-Derby Experience leaderboard

Junior Maria Fassi and No. 3 Arkansas remain atop the leaderboard after two rounds at the Evans-Derby Experience in Auburn, Alabama, heading into today’s final round.

Fassi, who ranks third in the Golfweek.com standings and leads the field by six strokes, recorded her second consecutive round in the 60s and eighth of the season on Monday, carding a 67 after shooting an 8-under 64 on Sunday. She finished Monday’s second round with three birdies and an eagle and has 11 birdies through two days.

Fassi sits at 13-under entering play today, and as a team, Arkansas is 17-under after shooting under par on Monday. The Razorbacks were one of three teams to do so in round two. Arkansas, searching for its fifth team title of the year, is five strokes ahead of No. 5 Duke and 11 ahead of third-place Florida State.

Junior Kaylee Benton shot a 4-under 68 on Monday, moving into a tie for sixth place overall. Benton finished her second nine with three birdies and carded six in her round on Monday.
