Arkansas fans sound off on which Power 5 nonconference opponents the Hogs should schedule

nlr buzzard: Based solely on my interest in going to the road game: Colorado. While the CSU game outcome was a disaster, the road trip to the state was great and would love to do it again. West Virginia — though I’m told their fans are pretty nasty. Virginia Tech — really good program historically and Blacksburg is right there close to the Blue Ridge. Pittsburgh — if they could guarantee there would be a Steelers’ home game the next day. Army — I have always wanted to see West Point.

Army Hog: Louisville. A chance to rub some gravel in Bobby Petrino’s old wounds. Virginia Tech. We owe them a complete game. Penn State. No real reason. It would just be fun to see. Oklahoma. It would be good for recruiting. Clemson, after Coach Chad Morris has had four or more years to get the Hogs playing and running his offense.

Colorado Hog: My first choice would be Colorado, for obvious reasons. I think everyone enjoyed their time at CSU except the team once again forgot that the game is four quarters instead of three.

Jhawg: I would love to see the Hogs play in the Rose Bowl, but that probably will not happen. The tradition and the scenery there is just the best along with the weather. If we did play there, it would probably be in the CFB playoffs.

Swine Fusion: I think we have a better chance of scheduling a home-and-home with UCLA than we do of playing in the playoff any time soon.

Snout_: I would love to see Nebraska on the schedule. I believe we’ve only played them once in our history and everyone knows when that was. After going to Omaha for the College World Series and realizing what an easy drive it is, Lincoln would be a great weekend trip and the same for Nebraskans heading our way.

nlr buzzard: The Cornhusker fans could see the beauty of the campus and the hills from the east upper deck. The Hog fans in the upper deck in Lincoln could see, I don’t know, maybe Iowa, South Dakota or the campus tree?

Hollywoodbeachhog: Looking forward to going to Notre Dame in a couple of years. Never been to Chicago, so will probably go two or three days early. Probably can’t see much in a couple of days, so maybe a return trip to Northwestern?

SoArkHog: Army in Yankee Stadium or some other scenic neutral site would always be fun, but even a home-and-home would be neat.

RICEPIG1: A 10-year schedule with Kansas. We need the wins.

SoArkHog: Don’t let Les Miles do the commentary for that one: Kansas vs. AR-Kansas. Ugh!

JacksonReid: Oregon so I can visit the sacred grounds that Otter, Flounder and Boon called home.

Razorbacker79: I’d like to play Stanford again. The one time we played them before was the one time they had a Heisman Trophy winner. I’d like to try them again, great QB or no.

Grimbald: Big 10 — Indiana, Illinois, Northwestern, Maryland. Big 12 — Kansas, Iowa State, Baylor. PAC-12 — Oregon State, Washington State, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Arizona State. ACC — anyone. We must learn to walk before we can attempt to run.

Why Hog fans should be optimistic going into today’s game against LSU

Hogmodo: LSU does NOT have a juggernaut offense. And what they can do well is what we stop well. Better than some things. If Ty Storey can play as well as he did against ‘Bama, who knows? We have done crazier things against LSU.

Jimbeau77: LSU is usually beat up after ‘Bama when they play us. We are rested and healed up. Their offense hasn’t done much all year. But their defense has quite a few future NFL players on it and the best secondary Ty has faced.

Hogbacker: We should be rested and have some guys back from injuries and I think we will see some new starters after the poor showing a week ago. …I’m a never-say-die type of fan and Coach Chad Morris is not going to concede anything no matter who it is. That’s the reason we play the games. … A win could be the biggest recruiting tool we have to use this year.

White25: Love the optimistic outlooks. The Tigers will be in a nasty mood this weekend. We have maybe two players who could play on that team. Regardless, I’ll be there yelling like hell for my school. Go Hogs.

Georgia Hawg: LSU will not take us as a serious threat. This game will be like a bowl game for us. We have had two weeks rest and they just got pummeled. The weather will be cold. This is a trophy game. Our seniors’ last home game.

Swine Fusion: The underdog always has a chance if they other team lets them stay around. Penalties and turnovers.

JacksonReid: If you have tickets, use them and make some noise with recruits in the house, or give them to someone who will. Going to be cold? Bundle up. Team stinks? Agreed, but do what you can to help in the recovery process! Encourage and support.

SwineIzFine: There isn’t one game this season that I’ve watched that leads me to believe that we’ll beat the Tigers. Just something about the weird things that have happened in the past make me think we have a chance. I’ll be in my seat calling the Hogs.

Razormac: This team could use some good old-fashioned luck. They have not had much this year. It would be nice to see the ball bounce their way and for them to have a chance in the fourth quarter.

Score predictions for tonight’s game against LSU

Razorwill: About the same as last year. We just don’t have the horses on campus yet…. LSU 34, Arkansas 13.

GeneralHog: 21-20 Arkansas.

lilhawg: Would have to play a complete game on both sides of the ball to win. Plus LSU would have to make crucial mistakes. I hate it, but this will be no contest. LSU 38-13.

Jimbeau77: 30-21, LSU. We score early but not enough. If we couldn’t score late against Ole Miss and Vandy when we needed to I don’t see it happening against a superior defense.

LDHawg: Hogs 31, LSU 30. Limpert hits a field goal to win.

WorldSeriesofPorker: 17-0, Hogs.

Hogbacker: Hogs 24, LSU 17, if Hogs win turnover stat. If not, LSU in a rout.

Army Hog: The only chance is freezing temperature and LSU simply won’t want to play in the cold.

HarleyHawgidson: Looks like you will get the freezing temps. … 24-21 Hogs. Three fumbles by LSU running backs on bone-jarring hits from Santos Ramirez, who runs one back for a 40-yard touchdown.
