The Recruiting Guy

2020 Texas wideout has Hogs in top 3

Junior receiver Money Parks.

— Highly regarded junior receiver and return man Money Parks lists Arkansas as one of his top three schools.

“They’re definitely in my top three right now — Arkansas, Texas Tech and Oklahoma,” Parks said.

Parks, 5-10, 168, 4.45 seconds, of Fort Worth All Saints, has offers from Arkansas, Texas Tech, Kansas State, Baylor, Utah, Illinois, Kansas, Houston and others.

He visited Arkansas earlier in the year and has plans to visit again.

“Oh, I loved the facility,” Parks said. “I was able to walk around the campus and see the academic center. It was pretty cool.”

The Razorback coaching staff also stood out on his trip to Fayetteville.

“The attitude on the practice field when they were practicing — they were all engaged, jumping around,” Parks said.

Parks reminds Fort Worth All Saints coach Aaron Beck of former Saint and current Oklahoma freshman receiver Jaylon Robinson.

“Money, through his style, work ethic, his tenacity, he reminds me a lot of Jaylon,” Beck said. “He has a lot of athletic traits that you can’t coach. He’s a very explosive guy. Really, really smooth in his route running.”

His first name is Monterren, but he has been going by Money for a long time.

“I’ve been called Money since pee-wee football, when I was like 7, all the way to now,” Parks said.

Parks’ father nicknamed him Money.

“He said when I was little I used to take change out of his pocket,” Parks said.

He recorded 31 receptions for 429 yards and 6 touchdowns as a sophomore at Aledo. He transferred to All Saints for a more challenging academic setting. Parks has 25 catches for 210 yards and 5 touchdowns in 4 games this season.

Approximately 15 colleges coaches contacted Parks on Sept. 1, the first day coaches could reach out via Twitter or text.

“It was a crazy experience,” Parks said. “I never thought someone would text that many times in a day about college. That’s like a kid’s goal to have that many colleges.”

Beck said Parks is quiet by nature.

“He’s a humble guy — a little reserved in his comments, but not reserved in his play,” Beck said.

Parks is very studious in school and on the football field.

“Money has been a good mentor to our younger receivers,” Beck said. “He really wants to know what the other receivers are doing. He wants to know what the O-linemen are doing. He pays good attention to all of that.”
