Greenwood's Hanna sees new direction at Arkansas

Jordan Hanna

— Greenwood junior linebacker Jordan Hanna has been on the Arkansas campus several times now, but he senses a new direction with the football program.

Hanna (6-1, 195 pounds) got a chance to go in-depth with new coach Sam Pittman and his assistants during last Saturday’s Junior Day.

"I think the air is completely different in there,” Hanna said. “I think that they're more united. There's no jokes, nothing phony about it. You can tell they're very connected."

Hanna had 118 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 9 sacks, 20 quarterback hurries, a recovered fumble and a forced fumble while playing defensive end in 2019 for the Class 6A Bulldogs.

He will move to linebacker this year.

His brother, Morgan Hanna, is a freshman defensive end for the Razorbacks, and they both have an affinity for Arkansas.

"Like they say, it's a little bit different here in Arkansas when you come from Arkansas,” Hanna said. “You go and look at the school and it's just a lot of pride seeing everything around here. Having my brother come up here, I see kind of how he feels about it. It's just a cool deal."

The younger Hanna has an offer from Southern Miss and is getting interest from Arkansas, Colorado, Missouri, Wake Forest, Tulsa, Middle Tennessee, UNLV and Toledo.

"I'm just going and hanging out at schools,” Hanna said. “I'm looking at who has the best lunch room, who's going to feed me. Also, checking out the staff and who's the homies there."

Hanna plans to attend an Arkansas camp this summer although those dates have not been set up yet. He does not plan to follow in his brother’s footsteps as a preferred walk-on.

“I want to get my school paid for," Hanna said. "I want to get a high degree and I'm not going to pay for it.”
