FAYETTEVILLE — Former Arkansas pitcher Duke Welker was added to the Pittsburgh Pirates' 25-man roster on Wednesday.
The right-hander is 3-0 with a 0.00 earned run average in 10 relief appearances this season for the Pirates' triple-A affiliate in Indianapolis. The Kirkland, Wash. native could make his MLB debut tonight in Pittsburgh's game against Seattle.
Welker, 27, last pitched for Arkansas in 2007, part of a three-man starting staff that included Nick Schmidt and Jess Todd. Schmidt (Rockies) and Todd (Tigers) are currently on triple-A rosters.
With the addition of Welker, the Razorbacks currently have six former players on active MLB rosters.
