FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas is opening its new football operations center to the public for the first time.
Razorbacks fans will have a chance to tour the recently-completed Fred W. Smith Center on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Razorback Foundation members can tour the facility beginning at 10 a.m.
Fans are asked to pre-register on the UA's athletics website prior to the open house. Walk-ups are welcome, but will have to register on site prior to the self-guided tour.
The football operations center, which houses coaches' offices, training rooms and locker rooms among other amenities, was completed in August. It cost $40.35 million, according to estimates.
The center was named for Fred W. Smith, a longtime UA booster and CEO of the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation.
The foundation gave $10 million to jump start fundraising for the building in 2011 and an additional $1 million after the university fired head football coach Bobby Petrino in April 2012. Smith donated $250,000 following Petrino's firing.
The football center is located south of Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium, adjacent to the program's indoor football facility.
