— Little Rock Catholic offensive and defensive lineman Luc Bequette had several scholarship offers prior arriving at Arkansas’ Elite Camp, but was hoping to add one from the Hogs.

Being able to work with offensive line coach Sam Pittman was a highlight of the day.

“He’s a funny guy, he makes you laugh and cracks a lot of jokes and is a good coach too,” Bequette said.

His grandfather, George, played for Arkansas in the 1950’s while his father, Chris and uncle Jay were standouts on the offensive line for the Hogs in the 1980’s.

Bequette is being recruited to play in the defensive line by California and offensive line by others.

“It’s kind of been going back and forth,” Bequette said of Arkansas’ plans for him.. “Originally I thought I was for D-line and then (tight ends) coach Barry Lunney told me that coach Pittman wanted to get me some more reps at O-line, so I’m not really sure.”

He weighed in at 279 at the camp.

“I had a small bowl of cereal for breakfast,” Bequette said. “Normally I’m around 285. I struggle eating real early in the morning.”

Bequette said Pittman gave up a thumbs up and advice.

“One thing he was saying was don’t cock your hands, just shoot them straight and work a little more on timing your punch,” Bequette said.

He prefers to play on the offensive line but is open to the other side of the ball.

“Center is kind of my main position,” Bequette said. “I am real comfortable with both sides.”
