Smith not going to LSU

— LSU has reportedly hired Georgia assistant Tony Ball as the program's receivers coach.

Michael Smith, who coaches receivers at Arkansas, had been reported as a candidate for the job by The Times-Picayune newspaper earlier this week. Smith is a New Orleans native with ties to the LSU program.

Smith said last week he has signed a new contract with the Razorbacks. Terms of the extension aren't known because not all official parties have signed the paperwork required before the contract can be released under open records laws.

Per his most recent contract available to the public, Smith doesn't have a non-compete clause with other SEC programs.
