Jalen Beeks has been promoted to Double-A Portland, the Boston Red Sox announced Sunday.
The left-hander was 4-4 with a 3.07 ERA in 13 starts at Salem, Boston's single A-advanced affiliate, this season. He also had 55 strikeouts and 24 walks in 67 1/3 innings.
The promotion means Beeks will be reunited with former Arkansas teammate Andrew Benintendi, who was promoted from Salem to Portland last month.
Together, the pair helped Salem clinch the first-half southern division title in the Carolina League.
Since being selected in the 12th round of the 2014 MLB Draft, Beeks is 13-11 with a 3.84 ERA and 3.1-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 41 appearances across three classifications (rookie, single-A, single A-advanced).
