Offers come in for Ashdown DB despite lack of playing time

NWA Democrat-Gazette/MICHAEL WOODS • @NWAMICHAELW University of Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema works with the Razorbacks during practice Thursday, April 21, 2016 in Fayetteville.

Ashdown cornerback LaDarius Bishop saw limited action as a sophmore while playing behind senior Brandon Northcross, but Baylor and Oklahoma State have seen enough to offer scholarships.

“I didn't expect the offers to come in this early; it kind of caught me by surprise,” Bishop said. “I thought the offers would come around in my junior year.”

Bishop, 6-0, 180 is also seeing interest from several others, including Arkansas. He and Hog safety target Montaric Brown visited the Hogs for the Red-White spring game in April.

"Seeing the Razorbacks play was amazing,” said Bishop, who was watching the Razorbacks for the first time. “I liked how much the fans supported them, and seeing the way college football is played was one of the greatest things I've ever seen.”

Bishop, who recorded an electronic time of 4.56 seconds in the 40-yard dash at Dallas The Opening Regional this spring, enjoyed meeting Coach Bret Bielema.

“It was great; he seems like a good man and a great coach,” Bishop said.

Brown has called Arkansas his “dream school.” Bishop is also fond of the Razorbacks.

“Arkansas is great,” Bishop said. “Great place to get an education and a great place to play sports, and it's also close to home.”
