6 future Razorbacks headline state title games

Arkansas fans can watch the future of the Razorback basketball team in Hot Springs this weekend.

All three 2017 Arkansas signees and three junior commits will be playing in state championship games at the Bank of Ozarks Arena from Thursday through Saturday.

Little Rock Parkview (28-4) - which features 2017 signee Khalil Garland (6-6, 190 pounds) and 2018 pledge Ethan Henderson (6-9, 190) - will face signee Darious Hall (6-7, 210) and Little Rock Mills for the Class 5A state title Thursday at 5:15 p.m.

Garland had 18 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals as the Patriots downed Sylvan Hills 74-51 Saturday in Magnolia.

“The only thing we have cared about all year is winning the next game,” Henderson said. “Get a (win) and that makes the next game the biggest one of the season.”

Hall had 15 points as Mills downed Hot Springs 52-47 in the other Class 5A semifinal on Saturday in Magnolia.

Arkansas center signee Daniel Gafford (6-11, 223) will lead El Dorado (28-4) against unbeaten Jonesboro (31-0) and guard commit Desi Sills (6-0, 180) in the Class 6A state title game Friday at 3:30 p.m.

Gafford - averaging 18 points, 15 rebounds and 8 blocks per game this season - had 16 points, 16 rebounds and blocked 9 shots Saturday as his team beat Pine Bluff 84-42.

The Wildcats hit 33 of 55 field goal attempts, including 10 of 17 3-pointers in Saturday’s win.

Fort Smith Northside - which has shooting guard commit Isaiah Joe (6-4, 180) - will play North Little Rock for the Class 7A state title Saturday at 12:45 p.m.

Joe had 14 points in Northside’s win over Springdale Har-Ber on Saturday.
