Arkansas assistant coach out of practice

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas offensive line coach Brad Davis will not be present at team practices in the coming days.

Davis, who was not seen during the portion of Monday’s practice that was open to the media, has a pre-existing condition “that has knocked him out for a bit,” according to team spokesperson Kyle Parkinson.

In Davis’ absence Monday, Sam Pittman returned to his roots by stepping in and supervising Arkansas’ offensive line drill work. Prior to taking his first head coaching job in December, Pittman had been an offensive line coach at nine Division I programs since 1994.

“(Pittman) and Davis kind of share some of the same qualities, so it’s not that big of a change,” Arkansas offensive lineman Myron Cunningham said Monday. “But it’s always good to have someone out there to reiterate some of the things that (Davis) thinks.”

Davis was the first official assistant coaching hire for Pittman. A native of Baton Rouge, La., he worked the last two seasons as offensive line coach at Missouri.

Prior to his stint with the Tigers, Davis served as offensive line coach at Florida in 2017.
