4 Razorbacks land on AP All-SEC teams

Arkansas safety Jalen Catalon returns an interception for a touchdown during a game against Ole Miss on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020, in Fayetteville.

FAYETTEVILLE — Four Arkansas football players landed on the Associated Press All-SEC teams on Wednesday.

Senior linebacker Grant Morgan and redshirt freshman safety Jalen Catalon were first-team selections. On Tuesday, Morgan was named first-team All-SEC by the league’s coaches, and Catalon was a second-team choice and All-Freshman team selection.

Morgan is second nationally in total tackles with 111 and one of three finalists for the Burlsworth Trophy, it was announced Tuesday. The Greenwood native injured his knee Dec. 5 at Missouri but said this week he will return for Arkansas’ matchup with TCU in the Texas Bowl.

Catalon leads all FBS freshmen in tackles with 99. He intercepted three passes this season and returned one for a touchdown in the Razorbacks’ win over Ole Miss.

Sophomore receiver Treylon Burks and senior defensive tackle Jonathan Marshall were named to the AP All-SEC second team. Burks led Arkansas with 51 catches for 820 yards and seven touchdowns in nine games.

He finished with 10 receptions and a career-high 206 receiving yards in the Razorbacks’ loss at Missouri.

Marshall anchored Arkansas’ defensive line throughout the season. The Shepherd, Texas, native was one of the more disruptive players in the SEC, finishing with 35 tackles, 6.5 for loss, and 4 quarterback hurries. He tallied one sack as well.

Marshall, who started all 10 games during the regular season, totaled a season-high six tackles in the 30-28 loss at Auburn and five against Ole Miss the following week.
