Razorbacks look to stay hot at Florida

Arkansas guard Alexis Tolefree drives to the basket while defended by Florida's Kristina Moore during a game Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, in Fayetteville.

The Arkansas Razorbacks will try to continue a recent hot streak against the team their fortunes turned against a little less than a month ago.

Arkansas ran past Florida 79-57 three days after being upended by Georgia at home. The Razorbacks have won six of seven games since that loss and hope to keep it going against the Gators today.

Freshman guard Makayla Daniels scored a game-high 19 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter, as Arkansas pulled away late to down Florida in the first meeting.

WNBA star Kelsey Plum, who helped lead Neighbors’ Washington team to the Final Four in 2016, will be one of the announcers for today’s game on the SEC Network.

“I’m scared to death what she’s going to say about us,” Neighbors joked. “But I’ll try to bribe her up pretty good until then.”

Arkansas picked up its ninth Southeastern Conference win when it knocked off Tennessee on Thursday. It’s just the second time the Razorbacks have won nine or more SEC games since joining the league in 1991.

Florida enjoys a healthy lead in the all-time series, but the Razorbacks have now won back-to-back games for the third time in 39 meetings. Arkansas has never beaten Florida three consecutive times.
