Turner (6-0, 186 pounds, 4.34 seconds in the 40-yard dash), a former Georgia Tech pledge, made his announcement via Twitter and chose Arkansas over Penn State, Baylor, Tennessee, Texas Tech, Memphis, Houston and other offers.

Turner officially visited Arkansas on Oct. 19-21 and reopened his recruitment on Dec. 2.

“I want to start off by thanking God for giving me the ability to play the sport I love,” Turner wrote. “Next, I want to thank my parents for providing for me and helping me make the right decision that is best for me.

“I want to thank all my teammates, coaches and trainers for helping and pushing me throughout this process. I thank every school that has given me the chance to play football at the next level. With all that being said, I am blessed to say I am committing to THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS.”

Turner, who is expected to take another official visit to Arkansas on Jan. 17-19, noted that coaches like his versatility.

“In the SEC, you need corners and safeties that can run,” Turner said. “They like that they can put me at any position - corner, safety, bring me down to the slot and cover those guys."
