FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas coach Sam Pittman announced Monday morning that cornerback Hudson Clark will be placed on scholarship in January.

In an appearance on SEC This Morning on SEC Network, the first-year head coach said the program is “out of scholarships right now at this day,” but one will soon be available to the walk-on defensive back from Highland Park in Dallas.

“I called Hudson Clark (Sunday) evening and asked him to come see me,” Pittman said. “I think he’s earned that, and we’re awful happy to be able to do that. He was happy and excited and probably thought in his mind it’s about time.

“We were happy to be able to give him a scholarship starting in January.”

In the Razorbacks’ 33-21 win over Ole Miss, Clark became the sixth Arkansas player with three interceptions in a game and the first since 2006. He is also the first SEC freshman to have three interceptions in a game since 2003.

Through three games played and two starts this fall, Clark has 14 tackles, including 11 solo, and one pass breakup.

“I’ve always gone into games trying to do my job, whatever I can,” Clark said Saturday. “So it’s kind of just a big trust thing. All my teammates trust me. The coaches trust me, and I trust them. They’re my brothers and I’d do anything for them.

“Greg (Brooks) said it before the season started. He came up to me and was like,’ You’re going to play. You’re going to make some plays.’ They’ve had my back throughout the whole season.”
