It will be the second consecutive bowl game for the Razorbacks that has included a first-time matchup. Arkansas lost 35-24 to Virginia Tech in the 2016 Belk Bowl in the only game between those teams.
With Penn State off the list, there will be 22 Power 5 teams yet to have played the Razorbacks. Five of those teams — Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan State and Purdue — hail from the Big Ten.
Four other Big Ten teams — Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska and Ohio State — have only played Arkansas in bowl games. Nebraska was a Big 8 team when it lost to the Razorbacks in the Cotton Bowl to end the 1964 season.
Other bowl-only opponents for Arkansas from the Power 5 are: Duke, Georgia Tech, North Carolina and UCLA.
The Razorbacks have never played nine ACC teams — the most of any Power 5 conference. Notre Dame, which joined the ACC for football for the 2020 season only and competes in the conference in most other sports, does not count toward that total because the Fighting Irish compete as a football independent. Arkansas and Notre Dame are scheduled to play for the first time in 2025 and again in 2028.
Seven Pac-12 teams have never played the Razorbacks. Arkansas has a future home-and-home series scheduled against Utah in 2026 and 2029, which will be the first game between those programs.

West Virginia is the only current Big 12 team that has never played Arkansas. The Big 12 is set to add Cincinnati and BYU in future seasons, but the Razorbacks will play their first games against both of those teams in 2022 before they join the new league. Arkansas is also scheduled to play BYU in 2023.
The Razorbacks' longest amount of time between games played against a Power 5 team is against Kansas (115 years), followed by Iowa (96).
