Bryant OL Diggins shines at Arkansas camp

Will Diggins

Bryant senior offensive lineman Will Diggins (6-5, 280) put forth his best effort at Saturday’s Arkansas football camp and has himself in position to land an offer from the Razorbacks.

Diggins, part of a Hornets program that has won three consecutive state championships and 30 straight games, had a long talk with Arkansas offensive line coach Cody Kennedy after the camp wrapped up.

The Razorbacks have three 2022 offensive linemen committed in Joe T. Robinson’s E’Marion Harris (6-7, 370), Maumelle’s Andrew Chamblee (6-5, 290) and Duncan (S.C.) Brynes standout Eli Henderson (6-5, 300) in a class that has limited openings.

“He was just telling me like, ‘Just wait, wait a little longer,’” Diggins said. “He was telling me my film and I looked really good today. Just telling me to wait.

“He was just telling me what I could work on. He said I had a great camp. He was just telling me what I need to work on to improve and get my team better.”

Diggins, who is also his team’s starting center in basketball, admitted getting an offer from Arkansas and playing in the SEC are goals of his.

Diggins is impressed with what Sam Pittman is doing in turning around the Razorbacks.

“I like what they’re doing,” Pittman said. “I like Coach Pittman and I like Coach Kennedy. What they were telling me today was good. I can take that back to my school and help the guys there and the guys who will be going up next year.”

Diggins has nine offers so far from schools such as Baylor, Hawaii, Memphis, Arkansas State, Tulane, Morgan State, Louisiana Monroe, Central Arkansas and Middle Tennessee State.

“I’ve attended a Florida State camp, SMU had a one-on-one camp,” Diggins said of his summer so far. “I’m attending a Tulane camp later in July. I’ve taken an official visit to Memphis and an unofficial to A-State, and I attended junior day at UCA.”

He’s has a couple more camps and visits to get in this summer.

“I’ve got an unofficial visit to Baylor next Thursday and I’ve got an unofficial and camp to Tulane on July 23,” Diggins said. “That’s all I’ve got so far.”

Diggins is one of five veteran offensive lineman returning for Bryant.

“It’s going to be our O-line,” Diggins said of his team’s strength next season. “We’re returning five seniors this year and even though we lost a lot - our quarterback (Arkansas baseball signee Austin Ledbetter) and our tight end - I feel good in our young guys coming up. They’ve been making a lot of improvements over the summer, so I feel great about them.”

Diggins said the O-line is close.

“We work together,” Diggins said. “We go out a lot, work out together. We went through the pandemic together last year, so we’re a tight-knit group. We eat dinners before game days on Fridays, so it’s a tight-knit group and now it’s time to go get this work.”
