5-star Walsh happy to officially be a Razorback

Jordan Walsh watches the Razorbacks' Red-White game on Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021, during the first half of play at Barnhill Arena in Fayetteville.

Branson (Mo.) Link Academy 5-star Jordan Walsh (6-7, 200 pounds) signed his national letter of intent with Arkansas on Wednesday.

Walsh, the nation’s seventh-best player in the 2022 class, according to ESPN, was among three of five Arkansas commits who signed as the Nov. 10-17 early signing period began.

“It’s a great feeling,” Walsh said. “It was a goal I set for myself when I was young, to get that scholarship and be able to go play for a school. Now that it is official, all that is left for me is to go out and produce this year and do what (Link Academy) Coach (Rodney Perry) needs me to do to help us get the win every night.”

Walsh signed Wednesday along with Morrilton star Joseph Pinion (6-6, 180) and Mobile (Ala.) McGill-Toolen Catholic standout Barry Dunning Jr. (6-6, 205).

Magnolia guard Derrian Ford (6-5, 205) will sign with Arkansas on Sunday at 5:03 p.m., and North Little Rock 5-star guard Nick Smith (6-5, 185) has yet to announce publicly whether he will sign this week or in the spring.

The haul has Arkansas ranked second nationally by 247 Sports and fifth by Rivals.

Walsh is excited about the current group of Razorbacks and the program's future.

“I think they have a lot of great pieces and with Coach Muss coaching I feel like the ceiling is high and where it needs to be now," he said.

The other three Link Academy signees on Wednesday were Jordan Phillips (LSU), Felix Okpara (Ohio State) and Tarris Reed (Michigan).

Walsh had 16 points, 9 rebounds 2 steals and 1 block in his team’s 84-74 win at Hollister (Mo.) Prise Academy on Tuesday.

“The team is looking good,” Walsh said. “It is real solid and the pieces are really coming together. It is easy to play with these guys because they are so bought into the process and all of them are good people to be around.”
