Notes and observations from Tuesday's football practice

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas’ football team went through its 16th practice of the preseason on Tuesday. Weather was perfect, so the Razorbacks, who were in full pads, worked outside Walker Pavilion.

Here are some notes and takeaways from the open viewing periods:

• Reps from the Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Commanders were present at practice.

• Running back Dominique Johnson, receiver Jaedon Wilson and offensive lineman Marcus Henderson were in green no-contact jerseys. Johnson (knee) is expected to continue to wear the top in the coming weeks as he works his way toward game action.

Henderson (pectoral) did his usual individual drills off to the side of the offensive line. Wilson (shoulder) was limited in his activity with Arkansas’ receivers, standing on the sideline during one drill and with his helmet off to begin routes on air. He did take at least one rep on air.

• Center Ricky Stromberg, who hyperextended an elbow in Saturday’s second scrimmage, according to Sam Pittman, was full-go again Tuesday. He wore a wrap on the elbow, as he did Monday.

• Did not see offensive lineman Brady Latham in the time reporters viewed practice. Also did not spot Devon Manuel (undisclosed) or Josh Street (ankle), two linemen Pittman has said are dealing with injuries.

• In the Fastball Start portion of the workout, cornerback Hudson Clark broke up a pass from KJ Jefferson intended for receiver Warren Thompson on the right sideline. That was the highlight.

Sanders carried right for a nice gain and Jefferson wrapped up the first group’s rack of plays with a completion over the middle to tight end Trey Knox for a moderate gain.

Malik Hornsby completed a swing pass to receiver Bryce Stephens with the second team, and running back AJ Green had a pair of decent runs. Running back Rashod Dubinion had two rushes for short gains and a reception from quarterback Cade Fortin with the third group.

• With Latham not available during the segment, there was some movement with the first-team offensive line. Ty’Kieast Crawford worked at right guard and Beaux Limmer slid over to left guard.

• On the defensive side, the Razorbacks’ first team fielded a 3-3-5 look with Isaiah Nichols, Eric Gregory and Zach Williams up front, and Drew Sanders, Bumper Pool and Chris Paul at linebacker. The secondary was the usual suspects: Clark and LaDarrius Bishop at corner, Simeon Blair and Jalen Catalon at safety, and Myles Slusher at nickel.

• I had not thought to look before, but LSU transfer defensive end Landon Jackson, who was with the second-team defense in the Fastball Start, is not wearing a brace on the knee that caused him to miss most of spring drills. He is a physically imposing player at 6-7.

Jordan Domineck, an end from Georgia Tech, slotted in with the third team Tuesday.
