Black, Walsh finalists for USA Men’s U18 National Team

Two Arkansas basketball signees are finalists for the 2022 USA Basketball Men’s U18 National Team, it was announced Saturday.

Anthony Black and Jordan Walsh, two of the Razorbacks’ 5-star players in their 2022 recruiting class, are among 17 players still in contention to make the team. It will play at the FIBA U18 Americas Championship in Tijuana, Mexico, from June 6-12.

Twenty-seven players were invited to the training camp in Houston to compete for 12 roster spots. Finalists were selected by the USA Basketball Men’s Junior National Team Committee.

According to a release from USA Basketball, the final roster will be announced early next week. The team, which is coached by Colorado’s Tad Boyle, Oklahoma State’s Mike Boynton and Boise State’s Leon Rice, is set to begin group play June 6 against the Dominican Republic.

Nick Smith Jr., the No. 1 player in the 2022 class, according to 247 Sports, was invited to the camp, but has opted to report to Arkansas on Sunday.

Arkansas natives Bryson Warren and Kel’el Ware are also finalists. Ware is an Oregon signee and Warren is playing professionally with Overtime Elite.
