FAYETTEVILLE — Landon Rogers is the first Arkansas football player to enter the NCAA transfer portal since the end of spring drills.

A former standout at Little Rock Parkview, Rogers played in one game with the Razorbacks. According to Pro Football Focus data, he received three snaps in Arkansas’ rout of Arkansas-Pine Bluff during the 2021 season.

He did not record any statistics.

“I would like to start off by thanking God and my family for their countless support and help guiding me to where I am today,” Rogers wrote in a graphic posted to his Twitter account. “Secondly, [I want to thank] the University of Arkansas for giving me the opportunity to play the game I love most.

“I will forever cherish my time at the University of Arkansas, and the memories with my teammates.”

Rogers initially signed with the Razorbacks over offers from Houston, Kansas and North Texas. He was a consensus 3-star quarterback in high school and considered the No. 5 prospect in Arkansas, according to Rivals.

At Arkansas, Rogers transitioned from quarterback to tight end then wide receiver. In 2021, former Razorbacks offensive coordinator Kendal Briles said Rogers approached the coaching staff about a position change to increase his chances of seeing the field.

Rogers caught two passes for 31 yards in the Razorbacks’ spring scrimmage last Saturday.

He is the third Parkview player to transfer out of Arkansas in the last couple of years, following running back James Jointer, who transferred to Liberty, and tight end Erin Outley.
