Ricky Council and Nick Smith each scored in double figures during their NBA Summer League debuts Monday.

Council, who went undrafted but signed a two-way contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, scored 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting. The Sixers lost 94-92 to the Memphis Grizzlies in the day’s opening game in Salt Lake City.

His performance was highlighted by a breakaway dunk in the third quarter, which put Philadelphia ahead by eight points. Council also had six rebounds, which was tied for second most on the team. He went 3 for 5 on foul shots and missed both attempts from three-point range. During his 28 minutes on the floor, Council had one turnover, one steal and no assists.

Smith, the 27th overall selection by the Charlotte Hornets, scored 12 points on 5-of-14 shooting during a 98-77 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. He tied a team-high 3 assists with 3 rebounds, 1 block and 4 turnovers in 29 minutes. Smith shot 1 of 5 from three.

His 12 points were tied for second for the Hornets, trailing Brandon Miller’s 18 points.

Smith and Miller were AAU teammates on Bradley Beal Elite growing up. Miller, who declared for the draft after his freshman season at Alabama, was selected second overall by the Hornets.

Former Arkansas forward Jaylin Williams was also in action Monday night. Williams and the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Utah Jazz 95-85.

Williams hauled in a game-high 13 rebounds to go along with 8 points and 3 assists in 28 minutes. He shot 3 of 4 from the field. It is the second consecutive NBA Summer League for Williams, who was a second-round selection by the Thunder in 2022.
