FAYETTEVILLE — Forward Makhi Mitchell will return to Arkansas for the 2023-24 season, according to a post to his Instagram account Tuesday evening.

The 6-9 Mitchell published a graphic that includes, “I’m back,” and the post’s caption reads, “Let’s run it back.”

Forwards Trevon Brazile and Jalen Graham, and guard Joseph Pinion have also stated plans this spring to return next season.

Mitchell played in all 36 games in 2022-23 and earned 31 starts, tied for the second most on the team. He averaged 7 points on 66.2% shooting and 5.3 rebounds — the most among active players — and blocked a team-high 49 shots.

The Rhode Island transfer had 15 multi-block games, including 4 each against North Carolina-Greensboro and Texas A&M, and 7 games with at least 2 steals. He was No. 63 nationally with a block rate of 7%, according to KenPom.

Mitchell scored a season-high 15 points on March 10 against the Aggies, and recorded double-doubles in wins over Florida and UNC-Greensboro. He scored in double figures 10 times and in 7 games had at least 9 rebounds.

CBB Analytics shows Mitchell shot 76 of 101 (75.2%) at the rim and 23 of 47 (48.9%) on all other attempts in the lane.

Twin brother Makhel Mitchell (6-10) announced his intent to transfer from Arkansas on April 13. He has not committed to a new program.
