Chris Johnson, the coach of the NCAA indoor national champion Arkansas women's track and field program, will be the featured speaker at the Hawgs Illustrated Sports Club luncheon on Wednesday, April 24.
The luncheon will be held at Home 2 Suites by Hilton in Springdale. The buffet lunch will begin at 11:40 a.m., and the program will begin at noon.
Johnson was named the women's track and field head coach last July after serving as a longtime assistant coach to Lance Harter. He was also an assistant coach at Penn State for eight seasons. Prior to taking over the program, Johnson was named the National Women's Assistant Coach of the Year five times, including twice for the indoor and outdoor seasons in 2023.
It did not take long for Johnson to put his stamp on the storied program. In March, the Razorbacks claimed the program's second consecutive NCAA indoor national championship and the eighth overall track title for the Arkansas women. Johnson was named women’s national indoor track and field coach of the year by the coaches' association.
Northwest Arkansas prep standouts will also be recognized at the luncheon with the Prep Rally Program and Prep Rally Athlete of the Week.
