Sophomore pitcher Robyn Herron was named the SEC Pitcher of the Week after leading No. 14 Arkansas softball to a series win at South Carolina last weekend.
The left-hander went 2-0 and did not allow an earned run as the Razorbacks claimed a big road series at No. 25 South Carolina. In 12 1/3 innings, Herron allowed just 7 hits and struck out 12 in a pair of dominant performances in the circle.
Herron, who earlier this season pitched just the second perfect game in program history, allowed just one extra-base hit and held the Gamecocks to a .163 batting everage in her appearances to earn her eighth and ninth wins of the season.
Herron earned the win in the opening game of the series, then closed out the series with a complete-game shutout to lift the No. 14 Razorbacks to their third straight SEC series win.
In the opener, Herron came on in relief and dominated over 5 1/3 innings to earn the win. She allowed 5 hits and struck out 6.
In the third game, Herron held South Carolina hitless over the first four innings and had a streak of 12 straight batters retired.
Arkansas will host No. 15 Alabama this weekend at Bogle Park. The three-game series opens at 6 p.m. Friday and the game will be live-streamed on SEC Network+.
