FAYETTEVILLE — Former Arkansas women’s basketball guard Marquesha Davis, who transferred to Ole Miss in 2022, was selected by the New York Liberty in Monday’s WNBA Draft. Davis was selected in the first round with the 11th overall pick.

The Liberty finished 32-8 this season, finishing first in the Eastern Conference before falling to the Las Vegas Aces in the WNBA Championship Series.

Davis, a McGehee native and Springdale High School alumna, is the fifth Ole Miss player to be selected in the WNBA Draft first round and seventh overall. She is the first player to have played for Arkansas to be taken since Chelsea Dungee and Destiny Slocum, who were selected in the top 15 in the 2021 draft.

Davis appeared in 51 games, made one start and averaged 4 points per game in three years as a Razorback before transferring to the Rebels during the 2021-22 season.

She had a breakout year in Oxford during the 2022-23 season, starting in 26 of Ole Miss’ 33 games and averaging 10.5 points and 4.8 rebounds. This season, she averaged 14 points and 4.7 rebounds for the Rebels and was named first-team All-SEC.

Davis excels at putting the ball on the floor and driving to the rim. She shot 44.7% from the field this season. She can hit three-pointers but is better inside the arc, hitting 23.9% of her deep shots this season. Defensively, she averaged 1.5 steals.
