FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas men’s basketball guard Joseph Pinion plans to enter the transfer portal, a source confirmed to WholeHogSports. A social media post by Nick Wenger that was shared by Pinion was where the news first came.

The portal window does not open until Monday. Pinion has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Pinion played in 19 games this season and started once. The guard from Morrilton was a 4-star prospect coming out of high school but has seen limited minutes for the Razorbacks, averaging 5.5 minutes per appearance.

He averaged 2.4 points while shooting 40% from the field and 0.6 rebounds per game. Pinion committed to Arkansas over Baylor, Creighton, DePaul and Kansas.

Pinion is the first Razorback to enter the portal after Arkansas lost 80-66 to South Carolina at the SEC Tournament on Thursday.

More players are expected to enter the portal. Coach Eric Musselman said he planned on "fiercely" recruiting the portal, per the SEC Network broadcast of the South Carolina game.

Arkansas has five scholarship spots open with Pinion's entry.
