Arkansas baseball coach Dave Van Horn did not coach the Razorbacks’ 6-5 victory at Auburn on Friday.

Van Horn returned to Fayetteville on Friday morning for the birth of triplet grandchildren. On Thursday, Van Horn said his oldest daughter, Hollan Clark, was 29 weeks pregnant with the babies.

"Hogs win and we have been blessed with healthy triplet grandchildren," Van Horn posted to social media following the game. "What a great day!!!"

Pitching coach Matt Hobbs served as Arkansas’ acting head coach for Friday’s game. Hobbs also served in that capacity at the 2022 SEC Tournament when Van Horn missed a game against Alabama due to a case of food poisoning that hospitalized him.

It was at least the fourth time Van Horn has missed a game during his 22-year career at Arkansas. He missed games at Tennessee in 2012 and Mississippi State in 2016 to attend the high school graduations for his daughters.

Van Horn is scheduled to return to Auburn on Saturday and to coach the finale that is scheduled for 2 p.m., a team spokesman said.

Van Horn originally was not expected to coach in the final game, the spokesman said Friday.
