Coaches poll update sets up top-10 matchup for Arkansas baseball this week

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas is the No. 1 team in the USA Today Baseball Coaches Poll for the third consecutive week. 

The Razorbacks (19-3, 5-1 SEC) lost some first-place votes following their 2-1 weekend at Auburn. Arkansas, the unanimous No. 1 in the poll a week ago, received 24 of 30 first-place votes. Oregon State received four first-place votes and Clemson and Florida received one vote apiece. 

Auburn, ranked 24th last week, fell out of the poll after a 2-2 week that included a midweek victory over South Alabama. 

Arkansas will host Arkansas-Little Rock and LSU this week at Baum-Walker Stadium. LSU fell from fourth to seventh in this week’s poll following a home series loss to Florida. 

Eleven SEC teams are ranked this week. In addition to Arkansas and LSU, the SEC is also represented by Texas A&M (4), Tennessee (5), Florida (6), Vanderbilt (9), South Carolina (14), Alabama (18), Kentucky (21), Mississippi State (23) and Georgia (24). 

Auburn and Ole Miss received votes. 

The Razorbacks are in the coaches poll for the 99th consecutive week dating to 2017. Arkansas has been ranked in the top 10 in 51 of the past 53 polls. 

Arkansas also was ranked No. 1 in polls released Monday by D1Baseball, Baseball America and Perfect Game. The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association ranked the Razorbacks No. 1 last week and will update later Monday.
