FAYETTEVILLE — Defensive back Myles Slusher is transferring.

Slusher, a native of Tulsa, made the announcement in a post to his Twitter account on Sunday. It comes two days after he did not travel with Arkansas' football team for its regular-season finale against Missouri and three weeks after his arrest in connection to disorderly conduct.

“First, I would like to thank the University of Arkansas for everything,” Slusher wrote. “Helped me learn myself more than anything, especially overcoming adversity. I want to thank Coach (Barry) Odom for believing in me.

“With that being said, I will be entering the transfer portal to find a new home.”

Arkansas coach Sam Pittman said after the 29-27 loss to the Tigers on Friday that Slusher quit the team on Nov. 20, the day after the Razorbacks defeated Ole Miss 42-27 to become bowl eligible. Slusher had eight tackles and one stop for lost yardage in the win.

Asked Friday if Slusher’s decision surprised him, Pittman said, “Yeah.”

A reporter followed up and asked Pittman how disappointing it was that Slusher left the team.

“That’s it,” Pittman said. “I don’t want to talk about that anymore.”

Following his arrest, Slusher was suspended for Arkansas’ Nov. 12 game against then-No. 7 LSU.

Slusher played in half of Arkansas’ regular-season games in 2022. He missed five games for various injuries suffered in the season opener against Cincinnati and the team’s loss to Alabama.

Slusher was 11th on the team with 28 tackles, and he also had 5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 2 quarterback hurries and 1 pass breakup.

A former 4-star prospect from Broken Arrow High School in Tulsa, he initially signed with the Razorbacks over offers from Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Oregon and other programs.
